What's happening to my arrows?
This about the 4 of my expensive arrows to do this and it's getting expensive. I have only shot these in a foam multi layer target. The little spec caught in there is probably from shooting, I have shot this one a few more times since the damage. I check the arrows after each pull, but never notice this until the next time I shoot. Arrows are stored in a safe place...nobody sitting on them.
This one looks like there may have been some contact but I don't recall it. I only shoot 4 arrows at a time at a target, 4 circles, one arrow at each circle. The other 3 arrows looked like someone slit the outside fiber with a razer blade and it then sort of bubbled up. First time I think I yanked it sideways on the pull, nope. Any suggestions? These are expensive arrows. Thanks, Rob |
RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Take them back to where you brought them Easton have a very good warranty and will look after you.
If the shop wont help you out contact Easton direct. |
RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Thanks for the reply, I should have mentioned they are used (slightly arrows). About 6 came with the bow, another bunch I bought off ebay, they had never been fletched. Both batches have done this. So it's either something I am doing wrong or a trait of these arrows. These are my first ever CF arrows.
Thanks, Rob |
RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Looks to me like you have a broadhead stuck in the target..Is that your target??

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
That is definitely NOT a trait of these arrows!!! As Newman said something might be imbedded inside the target.

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Don't know definitely not normal , like others have said there may be something in the target, a broadhead or a blade maybe. I would NOT shoot the damaged ones anymore, trash 'em, before something really ugly happens.

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Hmm, Target brand new bought at our new Gander Mountain, never seen a broadhead(I use the mechs when I do). It is always up about mid shaft. But it's funny, on the others it's like the Carbon fiber skin delaminated from what's under it. The aluminum in the ACC I guess.
Any other good selections on arrows if I'm buying? |
RE: What's happening to my arrows?
It is possible that given you specific bow setup that the arrows are significantly underspined, causing excessive arrow flex and ultimately seperation of the carbon wrap from the aluminum core.
A/C/Cs are pretty commonly known to be some of the best arrows made. If you have two seperate batches of them doing the same thing then it is probably something to do with your setup. Please post the following Bow, DL, poundage Arrow length, tip weight. |
RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Do you ever shoot for groups. Look likes an arrow crease from another arrow but you say your shooting different dots. I'd doubt it's anything coming out of the bow because you'd see severe arrow kick. I've shot ACC's for years and never had this happen other than grouping arrows.

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
OK....you are POSITIVE both batches are doing this? I would almost say the ones you got from Ebay may have been defective to begin with so the guy sold them anyway. Sad, but it happens. If you are 100% positive it's both batches, it's definetly something you are doing. I've been shooting those for a long time, as have guys at the shop and I've NEVER seen that before, well, not without an outside force such as another arrow.

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Let us know if and when you do find out, real curious about that one myself

RE: What's happening to my arrows?
Thanks for all the input. I'll have to watch what I'm doing. Yep pretty sure from both different batches. The first batch of arrows came with the MQ1 I bought off ebay. The bow was completely set up and ready to shoot. I didn't touch aqnything. I haven't shot hundreds of bows in my life but this one is the smoothest ever. So it wouldn't seem to be anything mechanical. But my other bows were much older models of various brands. It's just weird that it seems to be doing it when I'm not around, after the first 2 times I carefully inspec the 4 arrows when I pull them out to see if it just happened. Then I never notice them until the next time i shoot in the backyard. My son is aware NOT to mess with these. The MQ1 is set for 65-70 pounds, standard 2 prong rest, nothing special. I have already trashed theother arrows so I can look at those again (careful of CF spinters). I'll keep in touch if it happens again.
