I really like fixed pin sights for hunting and I haven't had a problem with them ever when hunting. I really don't like the idea of a pendulum, especially when walking to and from my stand, I would forget to lock it down and then I would end up having an animal at 35 yards and only havea single pin. Get a range finder if you aren't comfortable with your yardage guessing skills from the treestand and then you don't need a pendulum.

I really like Sword sights. I am a staff shooter for them, however I bought mine before they invited me on their staff and did like it better than other sights I have owned in the pastdue to the thin pins that don't clutter up sight picture like other sights, as well as the large level in it that is easy to see at full draw. I also don't need extra brackets or widgets to attach a lense to the front of it, I just intall the lense and go. Their Apex Micro 3rd Plane is adjustable for 2nd and 3rd axis as well, plus it is light years cheaper than comparable sights with these features.

I have their Apex Micro 3rd Plane on my 3D bow with the small pin guard and the .010 pins, and for hunting I will probably use another Apex Micro 3rd Plane on my switchback XT with the small guard and .029 pins for 20-30 yards, and .019 pins for 40 and 50 yards.

Depends on what you consider accurate. For me,the arrowdoesn't hit EXACTLY where my fixed pin is. At closer ranges I have to aim a few inches low. It's acceptable, but it took some getting used to. When I used a pendulum, my shots would be dead on, from right under me to almost 30 yds. Just go with what you feel comfortable with, I've always loved my pendulums and if you are mostly a treestand hunter or can deal with 25 and under ground shots, I think they are the best thing going. I've gone to fixed since I've been using my bow for more than just treestand deer hunting, but otherwise I'd probably still have a pendulum.

I practice from about 17 feet, I've hunted anywhere from 14-22 and still have shot accurately. I like the savage line of pendulums because they are quiet on the shot.

When shooting from a stand or any elevation, the most important thing to remember is to NOT drop your bow arm. Aim as if you were on flat ground, and bend at the waist to bring the sights on your target. Doing this, I've found my set up to be at most, 1" or so high at the same yardage as if I was shooting on the ground.

Look after bowhunting for 33 years with and without pins. Today with a modern single cam bow and a range finder all you need to do is use your standard pins, forget the pendulum. Besides when you want to hunt off the ground you don't need another bow.

Best to practice it before it happens. If you know the tree and surroundings you'll be hunting from, simulate the shots over and over before the season begins. Plenty of time.

I've used a Keller site before (years ago) it was good. Like the mulitpule pins now. 15' is almost like being on the ground. Above 20 has some affects on placement. Under the stand is not a good shot to take with a bow, but if you have too your form is the most important concideration. Practice again is a good idea. Shot placement is critical and small and the feeling that you can't possibly screw up the shot is strong and not what the mind should be thinking.:D

If trees arenot avalable, practising from the roof is good and some optics are always helpful.

I use fixed and have shot many deer at 20 heights. I have never said to myself," Damn, I wish I had a pendulum." More crap to monkey with. Keep it simple. These new bows are fast and like the guy said use a rangefinder if in doubt.

I have hunted with a kellar and loved the simplicity of it,it was very accurate out to 35 yards.It was nice in the heat of the moment to just concentrate on the shot and not worry about the yardage.I shoot a single fixed pin today because of the speed of modern equipment.My single pin will shoot flat out to 30 yards.A pendulum was a good tool,when the bow speeds were slower,but with modern equipment,I don't think they are needed.
