RE: need higher poundage for youth
krisken, as a BowTech owner, you should look at the Rascal. I got my 6 yr old son one. He loves it, and they can be upgraded as the kids grow. Even shooting at 18#, 19" draw, his arrows stick about 4" into a 3D target.

RE: need higher poundage for youth
Krisken, The Rascal comes in three draw weight peaks 20, 30 or 40 lbs. The 40# Rascal will adjust down to 30 lbs and is modular draw length adjustable from 19-25" simply by changing a module.
You may also want to take a look at the Stalker Lite. It comes in 30,40,50 and 60 lb. peaks that will adjust dwon 10 lbs. It may draw a little long at first since it comes in 23-29" draw lengths but the way kids grow now day's... You can do a little string and cable work to get it to fit him and he'll be able to use it for a long time... Both of these bows use the same cam and are both great performers for the money... |

RE: need higher poundage for youth
I have a 11 year old son shooting a Stalker Lite and he loves it. Also have a 12 year old son shooting a Stalker. They are great bows. The Stalker Lite he has is 22in draw and he will be able to get the weight up to 45lbs next year to hunt deer.

RE: need higher poundage for youth
Since your use to the Browning why not get the Micro Midas 2. Draw range is 22-27 and draw weight is 30lb to 45lb.
The one problem I see with bows that you have to change modules to change draw lenghts is that you have to buy them. |

RE: need higher poundage for youth
Thats the exact problem we ran into with my son. He was shooting a Micro Midas and we had it cranked to max for his draw lenght and it wasnt enough. We switched him to a MT Sport from Hoyt and he really liked that bow. That is untill he shot a Bowtech, then thats all I heard. "Dad I gotta have one" So he ended up selling his Hoyt and buying a Bowtech Stalker. He was drawing enough pounds for the Stalker but you can get the Stalker Lite if you need lower lbs and still be able to move up.

RE: need higher poundage for youth
Have you considered putting him on the RACK? Guaranteed to add inches to his draw lenght, but be careful or his knuckels will drag the ground when he walks.
