Different arrow question (maybe!)
 

Has anyone out there used Pinwheels arrow selector software? I downloaded a trial copy and have been playing around with. They didn't have my bow, so I used the 05 version and made what I think are the proper adjustments to bow setup. When doing the spine match part of the program fo my setup, the software sugest I use GT Pro black 7595 shafts. My setup is as follows: 06 Tomcat, 30" 63#, 28" arrow length, 100gr BH, 2" blazer vanes. Doesn't this seem a little overspined? I assumed the 7595 # on the shafts represented the draw weight. Any help or suggestions please.

I have read goldtips tend to be week on spine if you go by their charts, which are pretty cheesy at best as far as arrow selection goes.

I have used On Target and TAP and both work pretty well. The best way to use them is to shoot your bow thru a chrono and record the set up, like draw weight, draw length, speed and arrow weight. Then enter the data in the program and let it figure your efficiency. Most of the charts and online arrow selectors just don't take enough things into consideration or offer enough choices to be truely accurate. Especially with the newer faster bows like bowtechs and hoyts.

I also believe the weight ranges listed on the arrows are at 28 inches and you shoot 30 inches. I could be wrong though, it's happened at least once before;). This would account for you needing a stiffer arrow than you think since a longer arrows is weaker.

The 7595 is a .340 spine arrow and that sounds perfect for your set-up. My arrows are slightly longer than yours and my DL is 1 inch longer with DW at 69 pounds. My specs are a .300 spine arrow. What you listed for your set-up sounds good to go.

Hey, I too downloaded the demo of pinwheel's "OnTarget2". That is a cool program! They don't have my 2006 Reflex Highlander (obviously), so I used a 2005 Reflex Grizzly, then changed the ATA to 36". I entered in all my setup info and just let the program do its thing. Here is what it displayed for me:

CURRENT SETUP:
2006 Reflex Highlander (IBO: 305 fps)
67# draw, 29" draw length, 75% letoff
Beman ICS Hunter 340's @ 29" cutlength (Vanes)
100 grain tips
(peep, string loop, nock, silencers, etc...)
Spine chart marker is right there on "Good"
272 fps, 10.17% FOC, 69.20 K/E
