A Happy Camper Once Again..Hoyt comes through!
 

Well, I thought that in all fairness it would be appropriate for me to post any negative experiences that I might have with any of the bows that I shoot.

Enter the Hoyt Razortec.

To make a long story short.....3rd shot through the chrony....

..BOOM!!


...The bow explodes and carbon shards are sent everywhere.

I stand there daized as I don't know what just happened. Then I look at the bow and notice that the limbs are in a recurve shape now and the string/cables are hanging loose in front of me. There is a rather large shard of carbon fiber pultruding from the Sims cable dampener and my arrow is nowhere to be seen.

Upon close inspection it appears that the cable guard slide (new style for Hoyt this year) cracked along one of the cable grooves thus creating a sharp edge. That sharp edge cut one of the cables and sent parts scattering everywhere.

All in all there is nothing visibly wrong with the bow though I do intend to tear apart and carefully inspect everything. I just got off the phone with the dealer and he is ordering two new cableas and a new cable slide for the bow.

Now all I have to do is wait...<img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Make sure you check those axles and cam bushings...

Also...so what did it shoot through the chrono before the accident?

Never thought Hoyt had a prob with cable slides anyways..they probably had the best stock slide on the market...wonder why they switched? I didn't even notice on the bows I saw...

I might look into another brand of arrows shaft as well if it disintegrated like that...

sorry to hear that your new bow blew up. I've never had it happen to me, but can guess that it would be traumatic.

Guess I'll have to wait for a fews weeks to see you report on the Razortec. <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle>

Damn... Scary stuff. Glad you survived, and hope it was a fluke. If I was gonna get a Hoyt, the Razortec is what I'd be after... Hopefully, you still have a bow or two laying around to hunt with?

Nasty to have a brand-new bow do that, luckily from the sounds nothing imbedded itself in any of your flesh or bone! <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle>

Yes, check the axels, bushings, and even the limbs. Go over them carefully, especially at the axel bores. Sorry to hear of this happening to anybody. Pinwheel 12

Wow what a bummer! Glad to know you're ok. I've experienced several blow ups in my days and it's never any fun let alone on a brand new bow. I've had very few since I've stopped &quot;tinkering&quot; with different limb, riser, cam and manufactures parts where they shouldn't be <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle>. Good luck with the rebuild.

Dang Frank hope your O.K. dude...If you didn't get hurt physically I'd say it's got to hurt the pride a bunch I'm sure...In all seriousness though it's takes a big man to come to the boards and report what you just did... This ones got to suck and as we ALL know it CAN and WILL happen from time to time no matter what manufaturer it comes from...
