Darton Rocks
Darton owns the patent to the binary cam system.

RE: Darton Rocks
Patent #6,990,970 issued 1/31/06 to Rex Darlington. Bowtech and Elite will be paying royalties to Darton.

RE: Darton Rocks
Okay? And you want this in the Technical Forum, why?

RE: Darton Rocks
I find it interesting that if you are shooting any of the hybrid cams or binary cams that you are paying royalties to Darton. Darton is not a brand that most people look at when they purchase a new bow. Rex seems to have good ideas but they somehow do not appeal to me in one of his finished products.

RE: Darton Rocks
I did like the Tundra Extreme but I needed a 27.5 draw to shoot with a loop. I did notice Darton has internet sales to the public. I guess this is new this year. Never noticed it before.

RE: Darton Rocks
Darton makes a nice bow. Wonder why Darton didn't develop a Binary cam system?

RE: Darton Rocks
They also worked on the cams for the Merlins as well. I have an older CPS cam bow and really like it. Shoots really well now matter how far off the tuning is to be honest.

RE: Darton Rocks
Does this mean that at some legal level it was decided that the binary system is a copy of the hybrid cam that Darton developed?

RE: Darton Rocks
every one owes royalites to some one. As darton has patent on cam and a half or CPS. and Alot of new companies are coming out w/ bows that are using other manufacturers cams. like the Rytera using Martin Cams. Its more about who is willing to spend what.
