Bitz Question
 

I just got the bitz today and was wondering how I can get it to fletch a very clean, smooth looking arrow. I guess Im not Using it right ????
Any tips and suggestions would be helpful

If you are talking about a blitzenberger fletcher , they come with instructions . One tip Id give is be carefull with the spaceing between the end of your fletch and the nock , easy to get inconsistancy there , allso some pepole use alot more glue than is needed

I am reffering to the fletching jig but to me the instructions arent clear enough

What seems to be the problem? I have the same Bitz jig.

I learned quickly to use a small amount of glue. You want to put the finest bead of glue possible down the fletching.

I also would "dry-fit" the fletchings to make sure they are making even contact on the arrow shaft and make any adjustments needed.

There is ALOT of glue out there but so far I like the Bohning InstaGel glue. It is thick and easy to apply.

Whatever glue you go with, let it sit long enough to bond firmly before removing it.

im just not getting the vanes to seat on the shaft properly. I love the thing but I just need some help figuring it out. Any advise given im sure will be helpful.

On the jig itself there are two adjsutment knobs. One at the rear and one at the front. Place your vane or feather in the clamp at which ever mark you choose to use. DO NOT PUT ANY GLUE ON THE VANE. Place an arrow in the jig. Now loosen up both screws that hold the adjustment knobs tight. Adjust the rear of the jig until you get the rear of the vane to make good contact with the shaft on both sides of the vane and lightly tighten the screw. Next do the same to the front knob.

You should be pretty close to having 100% contact between the vane and shaft. If not you can make fine adjustments until you do.

When you glue the vane I like to use AAE fast set gel. It works great on vanes and feathers. Make a small bead right down the center of the base of the vane. Apply clamp to the magnet and slide it down until the it makes contact with the shaft. I like to have the rear of the vane make contact first and then gently "roll" the rest of the clamp into position until the entire vane is making contact with the shaft. Give it a little push against the shaft (not too hard) and let it sit for about 15 seconds. Open the clamp and remove and rotate the nock for the next vane.

Man i cannot figure this thing out it is beginning to get on my last nerve!!!!
But I will prevail, im determined to figure it out and make a good fletched arrow. No matter what i do I cannot get 100 percent contact with the base of the vane and the shaft ive moved the set screws and it still does not help me. Im using Fletch-Tite Platinum on Easton C2 Realtree Green shafts. Can someone please help me???
