For those who get cracks in nock end of shaft

Some of you guys have talked in the past about arrow shafts cracking to easily by slightly contacting each other during tight groups into target. For those of you who are getting hairline cracks at nock end of shaft, here is a thought to ponder. If you had a bow that preferred level nock travel, but you had the nock point set to high on string. I see that the tail of arrow would be forced down after the shot and the nock on arrow shaft would slam down hard on the launcher arm or arrow rest support. This contact or binding of the nock inside the shaft may be causing the hairline cracks in arrow shafts. Not saying this is fact, it was just a thought that came to me today.

Now, don't go starting that 'straight and level nock travel' argument all over again. [>:][8D][8D]

You know that is a really good point. My nocks are becoming chipped and my arrows are flying akward. Thanks...i will have to check that out

you know that sound you love to hear when you're shooting long range groups? that's what does it.

Why did I put thought into this topic? Because yesterday I was shooting again at 60 yards and freaking two of my best arrows had hairline cracks going about 3/8 of an inch down the arrow shaft starting at nock location. Pissed me off. I didn't think it could be from the contact at target because my nocks were not split, so I was thinking it may have happened when I was testing different nock heights.

YA YAYA...I didn't want to come out andadmit it and Iknew if I did you would be the first to say, "I told ya so".:D

Since we are on this humbling topic, I was thinking that if I'm going to have this issue with the Whitetails I might as well go with the freaken lightweight .300 spine Cheetah 3D'sand pick up about 15-20 fps. I'm so pissed about the two that cracked that I soldthe remaining 10 to my friend and I'm starting over with another matched set. Have you tried the Cheetah's and are they worse?

i learned the hard way, so i'm not saying i told you so.besides, it was too late to warn you, you already had them. the rhino's are better - but lordy they are heavy. you've got such a long draw, and they really are good arrows - at what they are good at. if it was me, and i know its not, i'd either really discipline myself to not ever shoot groups and get more ct's (which is what i did first (went from whitetails to rhinos, but i got afraid of shooting them at deer even though they were rhinos and probalby would have been fine)), or i'd look at getting something nicer. i know len doesn't like this, but i shoot arrows 2" shorter than you, and i have better odds than you at getting good arrows by cutting a couple inches off each end of lesser quality than you'll need, which i realize you just can't do. i've heard real good things about ac superslims, but i'm not investing that kind of shola until i have more time to practice and don't make any back tension boo-boos any more.

A Uni Bushing will help with nock end cracks specially from arrows being hit by other arrows;)

Better yet get a set of pin nocks:):D
