MZE Next Generation Rest
I just purchased a new MZE Next generation rest for my Bowtech Mighty Mite VFT. The first archery shop I called on this rest said all they had was the Hoyt model but it would work fine on my bowtech. Then I went to Lancaster Archery in Pa and they also only had the hoyt model and said it would work so I bought it. I havent tried it yet but has anyone used this new Hoyt version on a Bowtech? Any imput would be great..

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Id get the model that was made for your bow , If you dont own a hoyt Id take it back and get the corect rest
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
The model you need is the 600PC. Muzzy has 3 versions of the New Generation: One for the Mathews, one for the Hoyt, and the 600PC for other bows including Bowtech.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
you guys wouldn't trust the folks at lancaster? i like 'em, but that's the phone folks.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
The funny thing about the first archery shop I called is that it is the shop that the MZE was created so I figured they know what they are talking aboutbut maybe not. Does anyone even know if the 600PC model is even out yet? Maybe thats why I keep having places tell me that they have the Hoyt model

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
I just got information back from Muzzy tech support. The only difference between the 600 Hoyt model and the 600 PC model is the side plate is a littler thicker on the Hoyt model but it won't be a problem on my Bowtech. They are currently out of the 600 PC model side plate but said they will get me the new side plate when they come in. What great customer service. Another reason to buy Muzzy products I guess!!!!

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Then put it on and give us a review, been interested in the Muzzy New Generation rests. Yep, you can't beat that kind of service. Let us know.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Let us know how it works. I have a Patriot and am considering this same rest.
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
I have one for my MM VFT. The difference is in the length and configurationof the arm that connects to the turnbuckle. In addition, the overdraw plate cannot be used if you are outfitting an older MZE to a new Bowtech. I found that there is MORE than enough travel with the new system - and it works flawlessly. I had mine tuned and ready for micro-tuning after about 15 minutes. If you have an older style MZE, the new parts to configure it to the 600PCwill cost you $14. That's what I did - and it works better than I anticipated. Call Muzzy and they willset you up!! Great customer service.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
I have it set up on my Bowtech MM VFT and it works great. The hoyt side plate actually works better because I did some customizing on the grinder. Now the side plate fits into the bow like it was made for my bow instead of just a flat side plate. The only thing is the directions tell you to cross the cables above the cable slide on solo cam Bowtechs and mine came from the factory crossing below the cable slide. I now have them crossed above I just hope that doesnt wear on the cable or mess up the bow.Has anyone else switched where the cables cross and has it affected anything? I have plently of travel with this rest.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
i don't know about with the muzzy, does it come with its own cable slide?
but, with any other cable slide crossing it above will tear your cable and string up for some reason as they go thru the slide. oh, should have said on a bowtech single cam. |
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Yes it comes with a cable slide. The tech department at Muzzy said it is not a problem crossing the cables above the cable slide. What this does is gives you more travel with the parellel limbs. I guess I will find out after I shoot it for awhile.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
is the mze new generation a remake of the first one. I went to muzzy's sight but seen nodifference ?
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
keep an eye on that ok, because it tears them in 1 direction as you draw, and then lays them back down when you shoot. you'll have topinchon your string and cable above and below your slide to see if parts of strands are getting torn. sometimes they'll show a white discoloring, sometimes not.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
That's funny John ,I have the old model on my dually and I've had no problem's with the cable's discolouring or tearing up on my bow .I just double checked it and everything seem's to be fine and I must have at least 2000 shot's through her sonce I put your new cable's on her . I was also thinking of trying the new Generation ,but I'll wait and see what everyone think's of them first .

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
sounds like they use a nice cable slide.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Well after trying to tune this rest on my Mighty Mite VFT I am having alot of contact. I tried to raise my nock point up to get more clearance but no luck so far. Aslo by crossing the cables above the cable slide it made the bow draw harder and it was louder. Just for the heck of it I took the MZE off and put my WB deluxe back on just for a shoot this week. Within 5 minutes I had perfect bullet holes and great groups. Why I insist on buying Drop Away after Drop Away when The WB works great I have no idea.I guess I just like to tinker with new products. My bow it quieter and just as accurate as with the drop aways. Oh well I guess I will never learn.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
how much you want for it?
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
You may be giving up too soon. I have never heard of anyone not being able to get clearance with the MZE.
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
I haven't given up yet. I just had to put something on to shoot at a indoor 3D shoot this week. Its to cold outside right now to mess with it.I had a MZE befor on my Parker and I loved it. Im just afraid that with this shot bow with parallel limbs its going to be tough to get good clearance. Time will tell.
|
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Hang in there I'm sure you'll get it figured out .The Muzzy is a great rest and I found it easy to set up on my Patriot Dually.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Well after talking to Mark Land at Muzzy today I think he has got me squared away with the MZE. I guess the Bowtech solo cams with parallel limbs are a bit tricky and required some patience which I have trouble with sometimes. After taking Mark's suggestions I had the bow shooting good in minutes. I just have to do some morefine tuning and I should be good to go. I will definitely continue to buy muzzy products after such great customer service.

RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
I used the original ZE on my '03 Extreme VFT and crossed the cables above the slide. This allowed for enough movement of the slide to drop the arm out of the way. However, it did tear up the cables and you have to inspect them closely to see the damage.
I took the same ZE and put it on my new Tribute with the cables crossing below the slide. Not enough movement to get out of the way of the fletching. Ordered the new shorter arm and now it works like a champ. BTW - Bowtech says to never cross the cables above the slide. |
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
yep, parker, its not going to work on that bow - now how much?
(and please everyone, quit telling him how to fix it) |
RE: MZE Next Generation Rest
Well after some fine tuning I now have no contact and it shoots bullet holes. As far as Bowtech saying not to cross the cables above the slide I e-mailed their tech department and they said that it would not harm the bow. Also I have heard of cables being torn up with the MZE original version but the newer cable slides are much better then the original. Muzzy Tech stated that he has done and seen this done alot without any problems. Now I only shot it about 100 times so far but no wear yet. Ill just keep my eye on it. Sorry Gibblet!
