BUYING A NEW BOW
I’m new at this; bought a used bow (PSE Quantum) 3 months ago and got hooked on the sport. It shoots well in my opinion but I have really not shot much bows.
I live in Mexico and it is very difficult to go to a shop and try different brands or even different models of one brand. I have read some of the post on the forums and it seams the top 3 brands are (in no particular order) Hoyt Trykon, Bowtech Tribute or Allegiance and Mathews Switchback… Given the fact that it’s not very plausible for me to go and try all this bows, I’m looking for opinions and why? Thanks |
RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
All the bows that you mentioned are very good and you could not
go wrong with any of them. I bought a Mathews Switchback about 2 months ago and I really like it, very smooth and very quiet and it shoots an average of 288 fps at 70# with a 28.5" BlackHawk Vapor 4000c with a 100 grain point and a 29" draw length. I hope this helps. |

RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
are you looking for a hunting bow or a target/3d bow?
|
RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
looking for a hunting bow, but I would also use it for some 3D...

RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
All the bows you mention are nice , go check them out and see which one sits in you hand the best

RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
Why can you not try them all. I do think that it is worth it to give them all a try. I did and went with the Trykon. All are great shooters and I think you would be happy with any but only truely excited about one.

RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
Since you don't live close to a dealer or archery shop, I would get the Bow with the least amount of adjustment required down the roadand the bow with the best quality strings. BOWTECH, BOWTECH, BOWTECH! :D

RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
I canot try them all because here in my town in Monterrey Mexico they only have hoyt and only the vtec model and the nearest shop in the USA that has all 3 is in san antonio tx, which is a 5 hr drive...

Sounds like a good place to open up a BowTech Dealership. Ever wanted to run your own business. Just a thought. |
RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
Given your situation of being remote, and new to shooting bows, I would have to strongly consider shopping a Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, or Hunter's Friend web site. Check out some of the packages they offer. Bow, sights, quiver, everything comes with it. I found Hunter's Friend's web site the most helpfull in answering questions, but ultimately bought from Cabela's.
I went with the Reflex Super Slam. It is designed and made by Hoyt, but less money for not much less in features. I too am in a remote part of the world, Wyoming. |
RE: BUYING A NEW BOW
thanks for the advise game4lunch, I do order from basspro but for fishing gear, I visited the www but they dont have the bows im intrestend in.
Based on past experience in other fields of outdoor activities buying top of the line models of any given brand is worth it, both on short and long terms and given the fact that I’m getting married this year I better buy a top of the line bow before this jejeje But going back on what MilDotMaster advised. What isyour opinion on the bow with least amount of adjustments and good quality strings? |
