Harrisburg Sportsmans Show - 3D shoot ?'s

Who is going?

I am considering heading up there with a buddy to shoot the 3D, and to stay with old friends in York.

What are the rules there for pins/hunter class? Are there speed restrictions? Max distance? How much does it cost to shoot, and what times can you shoot? How many targets? Do you just shoot 30 targets in a row like outdoors? Any info is appreciated...........hope to see a few of you there. I am sure Matt / PA is going to be there, what class are you shooting in?

Rick,
$15,($30 for the $$ class) IBO rules and distances.........IBO equipment and center scoring rings but they score as 12 not 11 for this shoot.
You can shoot any time all day I think? (Must shoot with a partner to attempt to qualify)
30 targets spread out across the end of the arena and into the seats.

I will be there probably shooting Saturday in the MBR or Money class.
I shot for the first time myself last year in HC and did OK.;)
Make sure you bring your steady nerves, there's lots of eyes watching.[:-]:D

Oh and a properly set 3rd axis!! LOL

Alright, I may end up showing for this. I have to find a way to sight in the Allegiance for this though before now and then. Right now I only have a 20 yard .039 pin on it. Hopefully I can get a 20, 30, and 40 yard pin setup in the next week so I can shoot.

When I was heavy into 3D I did really well at Harrisburg. I shot on a Monday and won that particular day inviting me back for Saturdays finals....I couldn't make Saturday because of work so I went Sunday as part of a 4 man team shoot. My score Sunday beat first place Saturday....oh well....

It's a very interesting shoot. Most of us are use to shooting on level ground and downhill/out of a treestand. Rarely do you get to shoot at angles uphill. As well as what Matt mentioned, also don't forget to bend at the waist....draw level, bend back...don't raise your bow arm....I could give you a real hint on judging distance but....remember what I told you Matt?;)

I am so tempted to shoot. I never shot anything like that. I guess what I am trying to say is I dont want to make a jackass out of myself.[&:] I will probably be there working at a booth.

Rick,
Hopefully this works:eek:.......(pic of the results board through 1/2 of the finals last year) You can at least see the qualifying scores and some of the finals results. Hunter Class is listed as MHC (male hunter class).

Awesome.....exactly what I was looking for. I am just trying to get an idea of where I need to be....lol. Unfortunately I won't be able to shoot if I qualify, but at least I have an opportunity to put my name on that board. I plan to shoot on this upcoming Saturday around early afternoon.

Definately looks like I will be there now. Will there be a Bowtech booth there Matt? Do you plan to be there Saturday? I would love to meet a few of you there.

Rick,
No Bowtech booth.......a couple dealers though. Swatara Creek Outfitters, and Kinsey's I'm pretty sure.
I'll be shooting Saturday at some point, not sure if it'll be first thing or a little later in the day. It's kinda tough to decide how you want handle that gear in there because of the crowds and difficulty getting to your vehicle depending upon where you park.
I'll have some sort of Bowtech shirt on, maybe a black long sleeve mock Tneck with Bowtech down one sleeve. You can't miss me.;)You ever been there before?
I think Frank (PABowhuntr and DOPVft will be there as well? Maybe Sunday though?)

I've been there several times, but it has been almost 10 years. Can't wait!! I have seen your pics before so I am sure I will recognize you when we arrive. Hopefully we can meet up at some point.

Would someone explain what the initials are for each class? Thanks

The class you would probably shoot in I am guessing is MHC (Mens Hunter Class).

MHC is most likely your class if you are shooting a hunting bow. Basic equipment rules is as follows. This is what I will be shooting in.

Pins sight w/ less than 4 pins total
12" or shorter stabilizer, only one allowed
No lenses or clarifiers
4" or longer vanes (no blazers)
screw in points (no glue ins)
Targets will have a max distance of APPROXIMATELY 35 yards

www.ibo.net/rules

I shot a vegas face tonight and pulled of my first 440+ score. I shot a 441 w/ 22 X's tonight with the allegiance at 70lbs with the 356 grain pro 22's, a 12" AEP and my hogg it w/ .019 pins. I will also be walking around this whole week with the rangefinder in my pocket too guessing stuff...............:D

Rick,
Thanks for the info. I shoot 3 inch vanes and 5 pin sight. I guess I will have to change for next year.[:o] Maybe I will see you down there.

Adam,
You could shoot MBR (pins out to 45 yards no stabilizer, arrow restrictions, 5 pins allowed)

.......or just shoot for fun and shoot any class (max yardage)thatyou want. You only need to conform to the IBO rules if you are trying to qualify or compete in the finals.
Nobody says you can't just shoot for the heck of it, and a lot of people do.:)

Matt, I haven't been paying attention to dates...what Saturday are you shooting....I'll make it a point to come down because we're not doing a booth this year and I can wonder a little more....I should shoot be heck, I'm not set up for it....I'm assuming your talking this Sat....if so, Jenny's off and maybe she'll come along...of course you'll have to keep your eyes on the targets..hate to distract you that way. ;) :D

We'll definitely be there this Saturday......Not sure how serious we're going to take the shooting but we're going to have fun anyway. A buddy from NY is coming down and my neighbor who has never shot a 3D course before so there willbe some instruction mixed in with the actual shooting.;)

By all means bring that pretty thing along......just keep her hidden while I'm shooting. She does qualify as a distraction.:DTell her I said hello while your at it, I know she misses me.[8D]
