What arrow for my league?

I am entering my first 5 spot league, and don't know a lot about target arrows. I am wondering what should I get.

Currently, I am shooting 72 pounds, but for this I think I will turn it down to around 60, and the arrow will be 29 inches long.

There are bunches of target arrows out there, and I don't have a clue. I can find out the spine I need easily enough, but what arrow should I get?

I'm new to 3D shoots myself but from what I hear is that some people have 2 different setups for hunting and 3D shoots.

Most have a higher draw weight for 3D shoots to produce a flatter trajectory. On their hunting setup, they sometimes go with a lighter draw weight to limit movement during the draw.

Personally, I'm going to keep the setup the same (@ 60lbs) for both 3D and hunting.

For 5 spot or Vegas target I would go with an xcutter the larger diameter will get you a few lines if you are slightly off and being indoors you dont have wind driftto worry about.

For 3d I prefer a small diameter arrow ie the Gold Tip ultra lite pro the smaller diameter wont have the wind drift the larger diameter arrow will have;)

Xcutters my eye! They shoulda named them exactly what they are. Fat-shaftin' Linecutters. ;)But that's the deal. Get the fattest shafts that will spine out for your bow, and still be legal for the league. Some havelimits on the maximum arrow shaft diameter.I'd go with aluminum, myself, for better consistency. You don't have to worry about weight or trajectory when popping paper at 20 yards indoorseither, and aluminums are so much easier to pull out of the target.

Get a dozen Easton X7's or Cobalts in a larger diameter and you'll be good to go.

cobalts or epics w/ feathers are a good choice. go w/ feathers for sure on what ever arrow you decide.

For target shooting at known yardage my favorite is Easton’s XX-78 aluminum. The 78’s are very consistent in weight and are the best in tolerance for being straight. They will not dent as easily as the 75’s and when shooting at spots with other shooters are very resilient taking quite a bit of abuse when impacted by other shooters arrows. I would stay away from hollow carbons if you’re shooting multiple shooters on the same target. Side or slap shots can fracture the carbon and many times will not be noticed by the shooter. This can result in loose fibers being imbedded in your hand when pulling and in extreme cases, fracturing when released. You may want to reevaluate you decision to reduce weight if you are accustomed to shooting 72 lbs. I shoot quite a bit of target and field spots and 72 lbs. is very comfortable. When reducing weight you are also reducing the holding weight at full draw. This tends to increase movement when holding on target. Good Luck and have fun.
