Question for the Bowtech Guys Lurking...
I have a PSE 4 Maxis which I think is about 10 years old. Its in good shape and was redone by one of the best bow techs around last year, but he cant make it faster. I've heard some banter about bowtech since I've been cruising these forums and got on the web-site and was VERY impressed. The binary cam system is, admittedly, a lot above me, but I'm an easy sell. I just want to shoot deer,no 3-D business and I was thinking about the Allegiance. Isthis a good choice for me? Is this type of system(Binary Cam) serviceable by any tech, or is there specialBowtech knowledge needed?I only have 3 dealers listed in the state ofDelaware, and 2 of them have the littlediamond logo, the other is an hour and a half away. Doesthat mean they're only diamond and not bowtech? Lots of questions, sorry -I have a hundred more.Bow hunting has completely taken me over, and right now I dontmindif I never pick upthe muzzleloader again!

RE: Question for the Bowtech Guys Lurking...
If you don't have a BowTech dealer within a reasonable distance, you may be eligible to purchase a BowTech bow from huntersfriend.com. Their web site has some info on the matter that you can read about while you'redrooling over the bows:D The Allegiance would be a very good choice and it's VERY dependable with the quality string and cables that come on it. Make sure thatif you have a local dealer service it, that he has a proper bow press for parallel limbs.

RE: Question for the Bowtech Guys Lurking...
I completely understand... Got bit by the bowhunting bug several years ago, and ended up selling off all my deer rifles; I just knew in my heart of hearts that I would never find satisfaction in shooting a deer with a gun ever again.
As far as the Allegiance goes, I think many would concur that it's probably the ideal bowhunter's bow. I am strictly a bowhunter myself, and log an extreme amount of hours in the stand... I'll be shooting an Allegiance in '06. The moderate brace height combined with some of the fastest speeds being generated in the industry combine to make a forgiving, yet radically fast package -- something extremely rare in the archery industry. For example, Mathews unveiled their new bow today at the ATA show. It generates a claimed (notice the word "claimed" -- Mathews is notorious for not being able to make their speeds) 322 fps at a 29" draw length. BUT, that's with a 6" brace. The Allegiance is capable of generating those speeds AND giving you a full inch more brace height. Couple that with the modular cam system which allows you to switch between "smooth" and "fast" -- without the aid of a bow press -- and I feel they've got a winner. To fully understand the merits of this bow though, you simply have to go shoot one. There'sa tremendous buzz about the internet concerning the Tribute, and rightfully so. But, to me, the Allegiance gives you a bit longer axle-to-axle platform, while still remaining highly manueverable, and is ALMOST as dead in the hands as the Trib. The added 10 or so fps though translates into more room for error in yardage estimation, as well as kinetic energy to drive that broadhead through a big bruiser's shoulder bone on a too-forward hit. As far as technical help, there's TONS available on the internet, and most bow shops should have someone who is familiar with the binary system. Welcome to our little piece of the world... and welcome to bowhunting in general! :D |
RE: Question for the Bowtech Guys Lurking...
I think the Allegiance is definitely one of Bowtech's premier models. It definitely is the fastest in their current lineup. I would that either it or the Tribute are definitely worthy of consideration. Heck, since they dropped the axle to axle length a bit on the Old Glory I would also consider it as well.
I do not think you need "special training" to work on the new cam system though a good solid understanding of cam systems in general is needed to work on any bow. I would think that if the Diamond symbol is located next to a dealer's name then they are strictly a Diamond dealer though they may carry both lines. Call the dealer and find out. Ofcourse, you really shouldn't rule out the Diamond lineup either as many of their bows are actually revamped Bowtech models from previous years anyway. Good luck. |

I live in Wilmington, De. There is a store down near the 13/40 split called Shooters supply. I am 99.9 % sure he is a Bowtech dealer. Go there or call, ask for John. Tell him Shane sent you there. He is very fair and reasonable to work with. Good luck
