RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Ain't shot it yet but it's ready;) Snowing outside now but making a road trip to town to shoot it indoors. It's a Tribute in Advantage Max4 camo and 60 pound peak with a 29 inch draw. The BC says 305 IBO with the smooth mods, got the fast ones on order too;)Gonna' try to snipe a late season doe with it soon and definately will be endangering a few turks this spring:D[8D]. The sight is a Toxonics Top Dog 3 pin (very light and small) Plainsman rest, loop, kisser, Quickie 3 arrow quiver, Simms Limb Saver Ultras, Simms S-coil and Doinker extensionand shooting Easton Axis 340's with Slick Trick heads.. Trippin' it all with my Carter Quickie wrist strap tooooooooo:D

Walks, that is one sweet-looking rig!!!

Funny, the wife and I drove up to Mt. Vernon, Illinois last night for my father-in-law's Christmas party, and I had a couple hours to spare. I went in and shot some Tributes and Allegiances, and was generally shootin' the breeze with the guy working there afterwards... I asked him if he was planning on ordering any of the camo options in for his customers to see, as well as how many he anticipated ordering in. He said, "Probably not any; I don't think anyone's interested in that sorta stuff." Amazing how out of touch he was.

Again, Walks, that's one pretty set-up.

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Well s@#$, I was all set to get one of those presses too.:( I liked yours over the Ratchet loc because of the location of the pins on the limbs seem to put less stress on them. Oh well, maybe I'll try to make one myself.

WWAG, the Tribute looks sweet. Looks like you're ready to rip already with that bugger.:D

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Sure, you can make one. You might try making one out of some thick marine grade plywood or other strong laminated board. Use 1/2 inch bolts and vinyl tubing for spacers and protective covering. Leave PLENTY of material around the bolts;)

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

WWAG, thanks for the tips. I really appreciate that. I have access to some 3/8" thick aluminum flat stock. I figured that would work just fine for this.

You need to get that bow out and shoot it. I would really like to hear how it shoots.

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Russ--what's your feeling comparing your 05'Allegiance with the new Tribute?
In otherwords will you favor one over the other and why? Fill us in please!!!
I'm still undecided--new 06'Allegiance or Tribute, unfortunately I've notbeen able to shoot eitherso I rely on people like yourself for the shake-down.

walks with a gimp 12-06-2005 12:06 AM

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

I haven't shot the '06 Allegiance but compared to my '05, the Tribute is smoother drawing with the smooth mods in place, waiting on the fast ones to come in. I was shooting the Tribute with arrows that are about 60 grains lighter than my '05 Allegiance hunting arrows and it was definately faster and more quiet to boot.
Shooting outside will have to happen sometime this weekend when it's supposed to warm up, it's 4 degrees below zero outside right now[:@]. If it does warm up and after I do the final broadhead tests,, I might get it bloody on Saturday or Sunday:D

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Wow--it's hard to think they can get any quieter--my Allegiance is wisper quiet.
The smoother side would be alot better--the 05' Binary Cams does take some effort to draw (at first), then after it feels as normal as any other bow. Gotta get my hands on one pretty soon.
Best of luck, go get that 'notch'.

WWG- nice bow. Tell me about those offset mounts for your quiver...did you make those? I like them and would like to get some! Thanks....

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

Firgured you made them. I also love my press that you made. Use it often. Another question. Still have my 03 dually- did you ever have a problem with the first shot going high? This does not happen with the binary, or the 05 dually I had made up (allegiance set up with 05 bk cams). Maybe a back wall issue? 03's are a tad sloppy. Maybe I am not as consistant as I should be....but just was wondering if you saw it. Thanks.

RE: Question for Walks with a Gimp

My Duallys always shot where the pin was, just like all my bows;)
I still have an '03 black and pewter Pro 40 and '03 camo Patriot Dually:)they are nothing like my Binary's though:D

That's the problem with the dual cams, if they aren't timed perfectly you can get what i will call "sight rock" :D If you put a lazer on a dual cam bow's riserand set it in a shooting machine or tuning board and draw it, the last 1/2 inch of draw will show the lazer making movements on a distant wall if the cams are not timed perfectly. This can give you a false sighting if you creep a bit off the wall, Binarysstay in rotation with each other all the way back to full draw. ;)
