question for Rob or PA or any other tech knowledge
 

I'm thinkin about gettin a Golden Eagle splitfire 36. it's 36" long
with an 8" braceheight. I'm currently shootin a darton with the same axle
/axle but with a 6 3/4 brace height. I'm shootin easton 2213's 29" long
and pullin 65 lbs. about how much speed would i lose with the splitfire?
would i have enough speed to still just use one pin out to 30yds? thanks

Well.....first of all I think the grip on the GE would be pretty easy to get used to an in the long run possibly make you more accurate when shooting for long periods. Golden Eagle has never been known for speed. There one company that didnt go crazy with speed rage. However they are known for smooth,quiet shooting bows. I seriously doubt that you could use 1 pin out to 30 yds with the golden eagle. My FX is maxed at 70# and I still keep my 20yd pin. The 8&quot; brace and 36&quot; a-to-a should make it very forgiving and a pleasure to shoot. While your looking at new bows check out the new pearson line.

thanks Ky_bowhunter! I guess a smooth shootin,quiet, and accurate bow would be better than a speed burner anyways. I can't beleive the price on that new 36.
I asked a guy on another forum who works at a bow shop, and he said they had em
for $250.00. sounds like a deal to me!

I would kindly ask if you have ever heard of the Golden Eagle Iron Eagle? I saw its AMO speed listed as 263 fps (and, no, that isn't a typo)...and if I remember correctly the IBO speed was over 330 fps.....but that varied with the different models which were introduced over the years....

It would be very difficult for me to make an estimation based strictly on the figures you listed. Since no two bows share the exact same characteristics, force draw curve, limb materials, etc.... then it is difficult to make a direct comparison between two bows of equal axle to axle length but of different brace heights.

My suggestion would be to take a look at the AMO speed of both bows. That should give you some idea of the difference in speed that you can expect.

thanks PA! the amo on the splitfire36 is 227 fps. not sure about the amo on my xt, but the ibo is 308.

I am not that familiar with the Darton lineup.....but I will take a stab...is the &quot;XT&quot; for the Yukon?

If I remember correctly the Yukon had an AMO speed in the 230s.....

You have a Darton Maverick and you want a splitfire Golden Eagle. sounds like you are going backwards. Darton Is a primo quality bow its one of the best out there. But It is personal choice. Good luck to you in your quest.
