5grn/lb draw weight. Any damage?

I'm currently shooting 71lbs and a total arrow weight of 358grains. I was shooting 383 grains with 125gn field tips but the FOC was upwards of 15%. With 100gn tips my FOC is 11% and arrow flight at range is much better. My question: am I damaging my bow? Can I shoot like this indefinitely. Thanks for the advice.

Although you didn't state what bow you're shooting, I've been doing this for years with absolutely no problems whatsoever. You should be good to go.

Cargo,

Your good to go! I've been shooting at 5 grains per pound for about 8 years now with no problems, just a bit of increase in noise. From what I understand the real damage starts to occur around 3.5-4 grains per pound. I have 5 grains as a cutoff limit for me.

Aim Hard!

Even with a longer draw length I have shot at 5 grains per pound in the past for extended periods of time with no apparent damage to the bow. As Rangeball briefly commented on, I think it would depend on a variety of factors.

For example, I wouldn't go shooting an lower price bow with inexpensive components at 5 grains per pound (70 lb draw weight) when my draw length was 32 inches...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

Glad to hear some good news. Thanks for the replys. For the record I'm shooting a Merlin Lite Storm and my draw length is 28.5
