Fletching placement on Jig, High or low?

Hey guys,

I finally got my OWN Blizenburger fletching jig (borrowing the old man's for years). Of course ... I LOVE IT and as I have read in these THREADS, there is ony ONE fletching to Jig to buy, it's a BLITZ. But I have always wondered if there was any PROVEN or SCIENTIFIC research in setting the fletching Higher (closer to the tip of the arrow) or setting the fletching as far back as possible (closer to knock)? I am sure everyone has there "spot" in which they set them, which WE ALL DO, but is there A SOLID REASON why we pick these spots?

Thanks in advance!
SQUEEGEE

typically the "standard" is 1 1/4 inches from the nock groove to the BACK of the vane or feather. Thiis allows clearance for any finger shooter or release. This is typically the standard oyu can deviate from it I suppose. I ahve seen several variations. hope this info is helpful.:)

The farther away from the point the better control they have on the flight of the arrow.

I like the end of the feather to be even with the end of the jig where it is cut back.

I agree with bigbulls. I have been fletching mine this way since I bought mine. No complaints.:D

Exactly. It also gives me a specific point of reference for each feather, so they all come out exactly the same.
