All great ideas indeed!Here's one more.Try shooting with both eyes open.It has drastically changed the way I shoot, and my groups are a lot tighter and more consistent.Steve.

I understand serving a 'bump' on the string; but, he specifically said "... is it ok to use serving thread to tie a nockset directly on the string..." The mention of a nockset caused a caution light. Sorry.
As far as shooting with both eyes open, much better for hunting in that it gives you more depth perception and has other qualities. You must, however, make sure you have a very dominant sighting eye or you will have to close the other and learn to open it slowly to avoid shooting off the target.

You can also serve on a small ball of white dental floss in about the same location as you would have a peep. Just line up the ball of floss with your 20 yard pin for a consistent reference with each shot. For hunting ranges it works as good as a peep.
