Question regarding my ZE and flething contact

I'm hoping someone here can help me. I've been shooting a ZE rest on my Hoyt Havoctec for about 2-months. I like it a lot, but something weird has started happening. The last two days I've shot, I've gotten a little fletching/rest contact. I shoot cock-vane up, and the bottom vane closest to the "arm" is contacting the rest. It still shoots bullet holes, and I haven't noticed any ill effects, but I cannot figure out how this is happening, and what to do about it.

Does anyone have any experience with this? The only thing I've been doing lately any differently is shooting broadheads exclusively.

RE: Question regarding my ZE and flething contact

I know there are some special considerations when dealing with a ZE on a Hoyt, but here are my thoughts (which may or may not apply):

How have you determined that the fletching is hitting, since you haven't seen any ill effects?

The broadheads wouldn't make a difference in arrow departure.

At what point does your stop screw hit the stop plate? The earlier it hits during the draw, the longer the hook stays up during the shot. The screw should be adjusted so that it only touches the plate near the very end of your draw. That will insure that the hook starts to drop soon after the string starts forward.

RE: Question regarding my ZE and flething contact

Capstone,

Thanks for your reply. To answer your questions, I noticed some slight black scuffs on the same vane for each of the arrows I've been using. Yesterday evening, I switched in two previously unshot arrows, and after about 10 rounds, they show the same scuffing. Also, the hook of the ZE shows some slight scuffing.

The stop screw engages just before I reach full-draw. Would taking any additional "slack" out of this stop help?

I only mentioned my broadhead use because that's the only variable that has changed. I shot for a couple of months without this issue.

Thanks,

MOCraig

RE: Question regarding my ZE and flething contact

Not sure what is the cause. On my setup (MZE and Tech29) if I shoot with the cock-vane up, it seems I would get contact. So, I just shoot with the cock-vane down instead. I have no problem this way.
