I agree that IBO speed advertising blows. They should all use the same AM0 speed rating, and if they want to suppliment adds with IBO fine. But then again if you are only buying a bow because it is the fastest one out there, then I guess IBO is for you.

For starters that speed with that weight arrow is pretty good and more than enough to kill deer. I shoot a 450 grn around 200-220 fps and it works.
My question would be why did he get a switchback if he already had a legacy? That is a fairly new and nice bow. I don't get why he spent that much money on a new one if it was not what he wanted. What exactly was he looking for when he got it, and is he only unhappy about the speed?
If that was an issue with him he should have taken his old bow with him and compared the two side by side and shot the new bow with one his arrows at the proper draw length. That way he would know the aproximate speed compared to his old one. You have to keep in mind it may be a bit less after you finnish setting it up.
I would say it is not an isue with the bow so much as him just not doing his homework before he paid that kind of money. I won't buy a bow unless I get to shoot it first, and usually I get to shoot the one I am buying before I actually pay for it.

A slow hit is much better than a fast miss
. Besides, what's the concern over a mere 50 fps when the sound of your bow reaches the deer THREE TIMES FASTER THAN YOUR ARROW? 250-275 fps AMOis where most bows are today.

speed of sound 1130fps
my estimated bow speed somewhere around 200 fps,,is your buddies bow fast enough,,,i shure dont no why it aint,,,course my bow was prolly faster last year as i was useing a/c/c cut to 29" with a 85grn spitfire,,and it killed a deer,,,,,no my bow is sloowwer and shooting logs but the extra wieght shouldnt make that much differents,,id tell your freind not to complain because speed aint everything,,,,,like AR35 said a slow miss is better than a fast miss

gees I don't know what you guys expect that speed sounds right to me for his draw length and arrow weight. It's enough.
face it the switchback isn't really a speed bow to begin with. Speed is way over rated for hunting anyway.

Hi I'm new, but thought I would give my input. One of my friends has the switchback and I have the ultra 2. The switchback shot 268fps at 69lb and my Ultra 2 shot a 260fps at 64lb. So I would say your friends bow shot exactly where it should be shooting. My old bow, a mountanear, shot 189fps.
