hi

i was shooting my 55grain broadheads today and noticed they were hitting alot lower than my 100gr point. I then shot a 100gr mechanical broadhead and it hit almost in the same spot as my field point did.
Shouldnt the 55grain broadhead hit higher then the 100grain field point because it is lighter ?

I would think that shooting a broadhead that is that muchlighter (45grns)than your regular field tipswould upset either the spine or the FOC enough to cause poor groups. All things else being the same yes the lighter arrow will impact higher but I think there is way more going on there.

i cant understand why it is shooting low if it is lighter. The 55gr broadhead/arrow combination are meant to be shot together. I may stick with the 100 gr if it is faster then the 55 gr.

Dude, your practice points and BH's have to be the same weight to even start fixing this. The arrows canbehave very differently when you change stuff.

45 grains is a pretty big change in how the arrow will react.
I've seen 1/4 turn of a limb bolt makea difference of 6" at 30 yards between field points and BH's.

Everything has to bee the same when you expand your tuning to BH's.

There is no doubt that the lighter arrow is moving faster. The problem you are having is not speed but I suspect stability. I think that drastic of a drop in arrow weight is either causing spine issues or FOC (Front Of Center) weight distribution problems THIS is what is causing your arrows to impact lower.

That is why your groups are better when you go back to the 100grn broadheads.

its shootin fine now the 55grain is shootin a tad higher then the field point, but is grouping well
