New Stringleeches flew off!!!

Bought a new bow last week and had the guy at the shop install new string leeches. After my second day of shooting (maybe 250 to 300 shots) both of the leeches are gone!
I think the leeches were installed to close to the center of the string. Instead of being just a few inches from the axles they were more like 6 or 7 inches.

Is that to far down the string?
Should I bring it up with the guy at the shop?
Should I ask him to replace them?

No matter what I'm going to get a bowpress or at least a string seperator to install leeches, sights, whatever myself from now on.

Thanks for any input.

Good call on doing your own work. I haven't tried the leeches because of all the bad comments on them and some say they are no more effective than cat wiskers or spider legs. Good thing one didn't hit you in the eye.

I think that sounds like they were in the right place though. That is where my spider legs go.

You might bring this up at the shop but they say right on the package they are only good for so many shots. Spider legs are good till the string is shot or they dry rot off. I love my spiderlegs and they work great<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Yeah no doubt! With my luck i'm surprized it didn't bounce off the limb back into my mouth blocking my airway and choking me to death.

I've got two more string leeches I'll putem on and if they don't stay I'll try something new.

Were the leeches tied onto the string. If not they may be able to come out when shooting.

I tied mine on and have had no problem.

I haven't had any problem with leeches coming off. I've had a pair on my Patriot since May or June and shoot some about everyday. I had the original leeches on my old bow for several years with no problem. I serve them above and below and coat the serving with Serve Anchor.

IL BOW MAN, I believe they were just inbetween the strings and not tied.
Is there a certain way you tie them on?

I have gone through a pack or two. Then the guy at the pro shop gave me a very simple solution. Wrap the center of the leech in mole skin. Haven't had a problem with them since then.

I tied mine on using the instructions on this page - http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/featu...hunter/tieone/

It is a tied on nock, but it works good.

Does the package say Kevlar any where on it? I've got the Leeches with Kevlar strands in them and have well over 700 shots on mine with no modification whatsoever. If the package doesn't say specifically that they have kevlar in them then they don't and won't last very long at all.
