mirage question
I have the mirage setup on my Legacy and I am shooting some nice 4 inch groups at 25 yards. The problem is that I am still having vane contact with the flip down part of the rest. I shoot carbone express arros with 3 4" vanes. I have the cock vane down when shooting. Te question I have is does it matter which way the vanes are oriented with a drop away rest? Any other sugggestions why I would be having vane contact? THanks

RE: mirage question
Turn that vane up and see if there is clearance for your sights. It doesn't matter which way you put the cock feather with a drop away, as long as you have clearance on all sides.

RE: mirage question
Hey MJR10, That is the reason I went to the Muzzy zero effect. I could not get vane clearence and the Mirage was LOUD, no matter what I did. I think I could shoot 8" vanes with the Muzzy, if they made them and get clearence. I tried three drop away rest before I bought the Muzzy because I just didn't like the way it looked. Every day I shoot it now,it just gets more beautiful A lot of guys swear by the Mirage but all I did was swear at it.I would try to set the cord or the cord and spring to drop as soon as possible and do as said, put the cock vane up. I wish you luck with it and if you can get cleaence, your a better man than me. Don

RE: mirage question
DoninVA,
I would have gone with the Muzzy rest, except I shoot a Legacy and they don't work with the roller guard. There is supposed to be a new design that fits the Legacy and Icon coming out early next year though and if I am not happy with the mirage at this time then I will buy the muzzy. I am going to give the mirage a chance though. I have very little experience with setting up a bow, and I have been trying to setup and tune this myself. It is getting better, now I just need to get vane clearance. I will have the rest come to max height at the very latest moment possible and see what that does for me. The rest is very quiet though. Only 14 more days until season here in NY. I can't wait. Have a good one.. |
RE: mirage question
you need to do a few things first off check to see if you have the arrow shaft sitting at least as high as the rest mounting hole. After that you need to play with the timing of the rest. to do this ou need to try adjusting the cord to give you fast enough drop down for your vanes to clear. This may take a little playing around but shouldn't take very much.
as always call golden key if you keep having problems. |
RE: mirage question
Well I solved teh problem. I moved the arrow rest over jst a bit and the vane contact has diappeared. The last 4 arrows I shot last night at 25 yards were in less than a 3 inch group. Thanks for the help all.

RE: mirage question
JIM....
Glad it worked out! This Rest, like all Fallaways take a little more time than the TM Hunter to Set up! But No other Type of Rest Gives you TOTAL Clearance! The MIRAGE does that! GKF Tech;) Like your Emotions! |
RE: mirage question
Yes Jim the mirage is a good rest. I am really happy with mine and it works great.
Good luck this hunting season. |
