Block? Yellow Jacket?, bag? Need some help!

It's getting time for me to get a target again, and I was wondering if any of ya'll had any suggestions. I'm basiclly deciding between The Block and The Yellow Jacket, but I'm open to other suggestions. I don't want to spend more the $50, and hurts to even spend that! I'm shooting mechanical broadheads, just to let you know. I appreciate it!

I just recently bought a Yellow Jacket Broadhead Target, and it seems to be holding up pretty good. Just don't shoot field tips into it! I nearly had to hook up the tractor to get em out. BH's come out fairly easily.I think the mechs pull out easier than the fixed. I think my next target will bethe "hanging bag type".

I have a yellow jacket and it has held up very well. A little arrow lube or vegetable oil is needed if you are shooting certain carbon arrows. I have shot a ton of broadheads into it and it is performing very well.

For daily target tip abuse a QUALITY bag target is hard to beat. I've been using a morrell eternity for eons. I'ts needing it's 3rd cover. I have an old block style broadhead target behind it to stop any deep seakers.

I also have a Yellow jacket going on it's second year. I'm starting to have to get picky with my shots as it's getting pretty torn up, but I do shoot a fair share of fixed blades prior to deer season. WhenI get a new one my wore out one will go behind it.

id invest in the block..ive heard great things about it.. if u take a look at it up close its got all those layers of it tightly packed together..just looking at the block it looks like a good durable target that u can shoot at many of times..i think im gonna invest in one myself..:D

The one thing you will not like about the block is the layers get torn with broadheads... The block is great for field tips, but you can't be the yellow jacket for broadheads... I knowI have a garage full of targets.

Got the yellow jacket and it works great on BH . Field points go right though it. I like that it does not break apart like my block did.

It seems to be a little bit lighter than my old block. Much better on getting the arrows with the BH out also.

The killer bee bag target works great for field points. No problems with it sitting in the sun for about 1 year also.

Use a bag targets for field points only. A decent broadhead will blow right through a bag target like it wasn't even there.

I got a yellow jacket last year and have been very happy. Good price and durable. Stay away from the Block/Hole targets. They are junk. Pass thrus with filed tips after <200 shots. Customer service is just as bad. Don't buy one just because peole "think" or "heard" they are good.. Do a search for "yellow Jacket" and Block/Hole" and you will find lots of info and I bet 85% is negative on the latter.

I pretty much would use the block if you are going to be shooting expandables into it though I tend to prefer a bag target for practice tip shooting.

i shoot a block as well and have no complaints. Broadheads will take some slices out of it but it still serves its purpose.

I have "The Block" and i cant say im too impressed with it. It stops broadheads but these slick tricks are tearin it up to pieces. I highly doubt it would stop a field pt anymore but thats what the delta deer is for. It serves its purpose i guess.

I have the 4x4 block... I love it, and as much kinetic energy as my bow produces it holds up great! I had the old block as well, and yea the broadheads would shred it and leave the shreddings all over the ground. My buddy bought the Yellow Jacket,, lol what a joke, first arrow he had to cut a hole in the yellow jacket to get his arrow out lol.. so i wouldnt recomend it.

Hey PD what do ya mean by "old block"? Reason I ask is I have a block and it does exactly as you say, broadheads slice big pieces out of it. Just wonderin if they have improved that on a newer model cause like I said on the post before, it sure as hell aint holdinup like they say it should. I guess I should mention that mine is 2 years old. Have they come out with a better design since?

I had the Block and was disappointed. I shot through it in no time. Big slivers were coming out of it constantly (When pulling out broadheads). I switched to the Yellow Jacket and it's much better. The Yellow Jacket is half the price and half the weight! For my money it's definitely the Y.J. Just remember to only shoot broadheads in it. Field points are real tough to pull out!

I need to change my previous opinion on the Block. Its beginning to see the end of it's days and I just bought it in August. The arrows are coming out the other side or the fletches bury themselves inside the foam layers. Im running out of room to shoot now. I think it said it lasts thousands of shots, now thats that bull****. IMO.

OhioRedneck..Yea they have a new one out called the 4x4 the foam layers are enclosed in another type of solid foam, so you can shoot whatever u want into it,and u never pull out those big shavings like u are doing now, and it stays in good shape, the outer solid foam almost heals itself when u pull out the arrow, so it stays in really good shape.

I have a Block and it works great. I have had mine for about 5 months now, and I shoot about 2 or 3 times a day and it has held up great. Any tip comes out with problem at all. Yes the broadheads do chew it up some, but I think it will last for a year or two. The way I look at it is, I could go spend 20 bucks at a range for an hour or two. Or I could just spend 50 and have my own target in my yard and after the third time I shoot the thing has paid for itself. I guess it really just comes down to personal preffrence.

Thanks PD, I know what ya mean now, i checked them out at the local archery shop and i think im gonna have to pick one up after the season is over. I think this peice of crap should get me through the rest of bowseason if i bandage her up with some duct tape!

Yeah man! The block is not wortha crap. For field tips a bag is the way to go, broadheads I bought a cheap foam target from wal-mart just to check arrow flight.

The yellow jacket is the only way to go as long as all you're shooting at it is broadheads.
