New to bowhunting, got a few ??'s

Hey all,
I am very new to bow hunting, I just bought a used PSE Nova for a buddy of mine, I have everything I need except for the most importantthing, arrows, I have no idea what kind to use, length weight, all of that good stuff, my bow has a 29" draw length. The guy I bought the bow from said it was set up for carbon arrows, so what length do I need? Any tips at all for a newbie like me would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.

Firstly welcome to the board.

As for the arrow lenght that depends on the type of rest you have the best thing you could do is take the bow to a pro shop and get them to make up the arrows for you.

As to what type of arrow that is really personal preference.
I use Gold Tip 5575 XT's.
You might be better off starting with some Aluminium ones cause you will probably loose some and break some then switch to carbons when you get better.

As a rule of thumb, you will want your arrows to stick out at least 1" past the furthest forward part of your arrow rest when you are at full draw. You do this by very carefully drawing the bow with a full length arrow nocked and having someone very carefully measure and mark the shaft 1" past the furthest foward part of the rest.

On my bow, I have a 29" draw and shoot a 29" arrow but this might not be the case for everyone. Your best bet is to go to a pro shop and have them set you up the first time. Especially have them measure you to determine your own proper draw length. It is money well spent.

Go a step further and have the shop do a tune on you and your bow.You may be a bit long or short on your draw which will affect your form and your shooting down the road. It's not a big job to get things right and it will be way easier to shoot.Good luck,Ron
