Modifying the Impact Cosmic
 

I thought I had read somewhere that you can modify the cosmic so you only have to tighten/loosen one lockdown knob instead of the two that are on there. Was that from you Len? If anyone can tell me what those modifications are I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Just a quick question for you, did you get the optional light for the Cosmic sight and if so is it hard to thread into the sight. My light does not want to screw into the sight very easily.

But seriously, I did not get the light for mine. I don't much need for at as bright as this sight is.

I just found a shop today in my travels that carried this sight and have been wanting to try it.. The minute I picked it up I couln't believe how bright it was. After I put it on and sigthed it in I went to atach my quiver and even with the bushings they supplied I couldn't move the sight very much. The owner said he has set up a few and had that problem. He just unscrewed the knob that is closest to me (farthest away from the cosmic ring)took it completely out. Said that the front knob was the one that tightend down the moving part the front knob was just an extra precaution and selling point. I did this and works perfect shot it at least 50 times and it hasn't moved a bit. Great little sight small and compact light and man what a bright pin.

Sorry for dragging this up fro so far back...I ' assuing that you guys hunted with this sight this year? I've been looking at this for a while...How did it perform in the field? Any Glitches? Would you buy it again? Thanks Guys!

It's a great hunting sight. Light, compact, brightest pin around. No problems at all, except not getting a deer yet.

I saw one of these babies the other day when I was in the shop. I can't believe how bright it is. I think I need one...now I just have to convince the wife...<img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle>

I remember reading about the mod you are referring to but couldn't find it. I use a Cobra Easy-Slide with a custom bracket for my Cosmic. Works great. I shot all summer and hunted with this sight and it rocks as a hunting sight, shot 2 deer so far with mine. I would buy another if I had to do it over again, the only thing I'd change is I would like it to have a little larger aperature ring. Other than that, I think it's one of the best sight aperatures out there.

I was wondering how the cosmic sight worked for shooting targets as well as hunting. When you are shooting bulleyes targets does the bightness of the sight distract your aiming? Also has any one used it in a Double Bull Archery blind early in the morning when there is not much light?

I don't think it would be a good sight for targets as the fiber is kinda big and it's too bright. It would be distracting, to me at least. I haven't used it in a blind, but I'd be willing to bet it would be better than anything else that's out there that doesn't have a light on it. I'm pretty sure you can get a light for it as well, but there really is no need for one as far as I'm concerned. You can see the pin right until it's too late to shoot.

Anyhoo, getting back to the modification, I took the rear adjustment knob off since the front one is the one that tightens up everything. However, when you are at the top or bottom of the adjustment scale, it's kinda hard to move it unless you use the rear of the sight.

If there was a way to eliminate the front adjustment knob, still have everything tightend up, and just use the rear knob, that would be the ideal situation.

I've had mine since Aug. this year and have had no problems with it.
When I settle into my stand I check to make sure it's on my 20yd. mark still.Nothing their to protect it so you have to be careful with it(scope) that is.Very bright and as far as a treestand sight goes I would say it's a good choice.Pin could be smaller though.
