What type of head?
I usually shoot a head that has replaceable blades. I have tried to "touch up" a few but learned I am not very good at it yet:eek:

I use Magnus or Zwickey cut on contact heads and sharpen them freehand. Use a file to do the rough work, then I go to a diamond hone, then to a hard Arkansas stone. I've got a paddle made from a 1X4 that I glued leather onto (flesh side up), put some jeweler's rouge on the leather and use that to strop them for the good polished edge I like.

For two and four bladed heads, I use an s-24 file, hone, and strop.

Crazy idea(no, no, no, no, I haven't done this, but wondered what it would do):

How about taking a dremel and the real fine cotton buffing wheel/dremel tip thing that comes with it and use it on a broadhead to finely hone the blade. (But I would imagine at 12000 rpm's, the friction would cause a broadhead tip to get red hot in seconds).

Call me crazy, but I was wondering how this would work to finely hone a blade?

By hand on a fine grit stone. Then strope on leather.

I use a diamond whetstone from DMT. It's an adjustable sharpener so I can use it on 2, 3, or 4 bladed broadheads. After that, I use a leather strop to fine-tune the edge.

I use a pull type tungsten carbide broadhead sharpener , followed by ceramic stick honing , and deburr on a leather patch and jeweler's rouge .

I use a wet dry sand paper 800grit to start and then buff them up with 1200grit or higher for the finish product.
