Recommended Arrow weight for ELK

Recommended Arrow weight for ELK
Going on elk hunt in Colorado and Wyoming in Sept.Iwantto tune my new Bow up and and am looking for whats best for ELK.
I am shooting at Switch BACK at 70 Lbs, Whisker Biscuit and and a Trpphy Ridge Sight. I am currently seting up with 27" AC super slim that weigh in at about 413 Gr. I can add about 13 Gr.with a wrap Broadhead is Steelforce Hellfire series.
IS 410 to 430 enough???

Probably a little light, but at what speed are you shooting them? If you are shooting 280 fps. (it's a Mathews, so I don't know..may only be 180....
) that gives you 72 pounds of KE, which is sufficient. But a heavier arrow will carry more downrange momentum and not fall off the charts so fast.

Personally I prefer to be above 450 and closer to 500 grains for elk but what you have there is certainly more than sufficient. The main thing is that it is shooting well for you and you can put it where it needs to go.
I also am not a big fan of serrated broadheads. I would only switch to the premium series rather than the hellfire series of heads.
Don't sweat it one bit. You are ready to go.

What you have will do the job easily on good hits, but it's not ideal in my opinion. Elk are huge animals and if you want a good chance on less than ideal hits, it helps to have as much weight as you can easily get. On the other hand, I'm not sure that anything is heavy enough if you hit the shoulder of a large elk.
It's also getting a bit late for major changes. Get what you have working it's best and become a great shot on anything inside 40 yards and you should be just fine.

I think that 413 is rather light for elk. Id opt for a heavier arrow. If you were shooting 450 at 275 Id say that is a start. There have been many elk taken with 400 grain arrows, but heavier arrows are a smart choice. Myself, I like to shoot 500 or more.
