OFFSETvsHelic Speed loss?

I was justg wondering ,would a helic fletched arrow which will spin and control the arrow better than a 2 deg offset, have a slower velocity at any givin yardage? To me it would seem so, because all the energy used to control the arrow by spinning; would seem to slow the arrow.Just wondering what you all thought.Maybe the slow down in FPS would be minimum.Have any of you cronoed and found out anything?

You will not loose much speed by using a hard helical. I have heard about 4-6 fps with 4" helical vanes. With a 2 degree offset you won'tnotice any speedloss. You might lose1-2 fps, but that'snot thatmuch. The hard helical has much more advantages over the 2 degree offset, and speed loss should not be a deciding factor.

I would believe the difference to be mariginal...a few fps at worst.

Is there any difference in plastic vanes vs. feathers? I was thinking about goin feathers and helical with a wisker bisquit? I'm going for accuracy not speed. Thanks

Sure feathers are quit a bit lighter than vanes. I would think that a helical through a biscut would increase the speed lose even more than a straight normally does.

You will lose more speed by shooting a helical arrow through a Whisker Biscut. I have heard that you will lose about7 fps by using 5" helical vanes.

I've used a whisker biscut since they came out and at one point I decided to change from offset vanes to helical feathers. I crono'd before the switch and after. The helical feathers only lost 1 fps - a completely irrelevant figure. The upside - broadhead flight in a crosswind improved greatly.
