Jennings Buckmaster
Does any one have any feedback on the older Jennings Buckmasters bows. I have a chance to buy one from a neighbor, and don't know much about Jennings. This one is in great shape, 70 DW and 29in. Dl, split limb, solo cam, limb savers, sights, and arrow rest. I've shot it, and seems to shoot good. Has anyone ever owned a Jennings, any feedback would be helpful. It's certainly cheap enough!

RE: Jennings Buckmaster
I have owned several Jennings though not one of the original Buckmasters. At the time they were first introduced they were something of an oddity in the sense that you were getting many top of the line features (for the time) at a mid-level price. They sold like hotcakes.
As for the bow itself, the grip is a bit big for my tastes...and if it has a swing arm cable guard on it then make sure you have enough clearance for your vanes. Hope this helps somewhat. |
RE: Jennings Buckmaster
I have a friend who has been shooting his (and killing bucks) for many years. Two years ago, he expressed interest in the Hoyts with the Cam and a half. He took his bow out, put 3 shots into a 2" spot at 30 yards, and said "Why get a new bow?" They are very quiet bows. Like PABowntr said, the grips are pretty big. They aren't real fast. I think I am shooting my arrows a little faster at 60# than my friend is at 70#, but he gets the job done. He kills more deer than I do, a combination of being a better hunter, and having a lot more time to hunt. His bow doesn't seem to be holding him back.;)

RE: Jennings Buckmaster
That is the bow I have and still use. I bought mine 5 years ago and have nothing but good things to say about it. The only reason I have thought about changing bows is that the newer ones are lighter, but I cannot justify spending the money just to get a slightly lighter bow.

RE: Jennings Buckmaster
I have one that is about 18 years old, awsome shooter, I have about 20 WT. Taken on it and countless pigs, cable broke and needs a new one, it is left handed, I may sell it cheap if someone is interested around $35 without recabeling, $60 ready to shoot.
Jennings shoot very fast and accurate. |
