FLETCHING TYPE THROUGH THE WHISER BISCUIT

I am 99% sure that I will shooting the new Whisker Biscuit deluxe through my new Mathews Switchback this year. I will be fletching my own arrows and wanted to do it with a right helical. I would like to get advice on how much helical is good if any through a WB. Also I would like to hear what arrows people use through their WB. I am thinking about shooting carbon express, Golt tips, or easton a/c superslims. Thanks

RE: FLETCHING TYPE THROUGH THE WHISER BISCUIT

I think most folks settle for between 3 and 5 degrees of helical fletch for their helical fletched arrows. The local shop fletches them at 5 degrees and many of the customers use these arrows with the WB and without any major concerns.

In my experience and opinion, the less helical you have then the less wear you are going to experience on the fletchings because of WB's design. Also opt for a stiffer or shorter fletching to help further remedy this issue.

Hope this helps.

What about Feathers? I also have the WB and am looking to change my arrow setup this year...was shooting Super Magnum Carbons 55-70 with a 4" Vane with about 58lb draw...thanks.

My two favorite fletching types for the WB are either 4 3" feathers or Blazer vanes. I use 4 blazers as well, with a hard right helical. The smalller feathers hold up well and steer the arrows nicely. The blazers are even more durable and control the arrows as well. Smaller shorter fletch seem to enhance the WB performance and make tuning easier.

I really like the Easton Axis shafts shafts with the biscuit.

I have chronographed 4"straight vane fletched arrows and 5 1/2" full helical feather fletched arrows of equal spine and weight, and they flew the exact same speed through the B-2 whisker biscuit.

I tested an older Hoyt Havoc with the B-2 whisker biscuit using a Hooter-Shooter to hold the bow. The arrow for the test had three straight fletched 4" feathers. At 35yards the arrow hit the exact same hole twelve times in a row.

I have half a dozen 31" Beman ICS hunter340 shafts with 125grain Magnus two blade heads, using three 3" straight fletched feathers. All six of these arrows will group inside of an inch at 20yards.

If your equiptment is in tune you don't always need a lot of helical.

Good luck hunting! >>>------------>

Thank you everyone for the advice. I should have stated that I will be fletching my arrows with feathers. I used to shoot both vanes and feathers off and on and feathers seemed to treat me better. I will probably go with three 3inch feathers. I have to wait to get back from Iraq to set up and tune my new bow. I cant wait. Good Luck Hunting to everyone and again, thanks.
