string leeches
 

my parker phoenix came with string leeches on it. Are tehy worth the speed lost? Should i take em off or keep em on

What speed loss they claim its only 1-2 fps that is not even noticable

It's more like 6-8fps... and I would take them off... or wait till they start falling apart and then take them off. And replace them w/ golf ball sized cat whiskers.. you'll have less speed loss.. and they will quiet your bow better... and not fall apart.

I'm gonna have to go with the 1-2fps loss myself, at least on my bows and my chrony.

Leave them on and replace them with more when they fall off or try the newer version made for cross bows- IMHO.

Definately worth the speed loss, if they stay on for a reasonable amount of time.

Take the bottom leech off,leave only the leech on the top(just below the cam) and you will get the same string silence with no speed loss.Try it,it works...Bob

Good point trestand. Whichever leech rips up first is the one taking the brunt of the string oscillation. Replace that one, it didn't get ripped up first for no reason;).

I put a set of the crossbow leaches on my Allegiance and they are holding up extremely well to my surprise. I think the speed loss is mostly unnoticable for the most part. Too many people fret of losing 5 or 6 fps. I for one have not noticed any difference is arrow drop when the speed difference is that low. I am currently shooting arrows with Blazers and some with 3" AAE vanes with wraps. The arrow weight difference is about 10 grains or so. They shoot the same group.

They are definatly worth replacing or if fps is your concern replace your leaches with Top Gun Archery's String Chubs. Minimal to no speed loss, just as good if not better vib. control.

I havnt noticed any FPS loss. I used whiskers forever, but leaches went on sale at the store i work at so i bought 3 packs a year ago and only had to replace them once. I really like them, but im not partial to them.
