Is a drop zone noisy??
When you draw an arrow over the drop zone rest, how much noise does it make??
Isn't the actual rest just solid steel or aluminum? Just seems that it would make noise when the arrow slides over it. Thanks, Kev |
RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
When you draw the arrow back it is not touching the actual metal rest housing. The lift arm will pick it up and position it when you reach full draw. Deathly silent rest!!!
I could poss. see that if you had your arrow too high over the berger hole that when you started your draw the arrow could be on the housing, but that wouldn't be correct bow setup so I wouldn't worry about it. |
RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
The launcer arm is alluminum but it has a rubber "shring wrap" like coating that keeps it quiet when the arrow draws back over it.
The DZ is one nasty rest. IMO it's the best I've shot as far as consistency and quietness and I wouldn't trade it for anything. |
RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
Nice, that's the best news I've had all day! I appreciate you guys answering so quickly. I think that I'll get one this weekend. I have a two prong rest on now and get some fletch contact because of a helical twist on my vanes.
My only other issue with the drop zone is holding the arrow on the shelf until I draw. Is there anything that will work with the drop zone to hold the arrow?? |
RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
i'll say this, when i draw a gold tip (camo or not), no noise, but when i draw a carbon tech i can hear the arrow sliding across the launcher arm. its not loud at all, but i hear it. i was thinking if i hunt with them i'll rub a dry bar of non-scented soap on them down where the launcher arm makes contact. that should take care of it.

RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
NAP has an plastic arrow holder that has a higher lip on either side that may hold the arrow in place a little better than the one TR supplies. As far as the DZ goes, it is a very good rest and I never noticed any noise while drawing an arrow across the launcher arm.

Can't hear it at all. Quiet as a church mouse.

RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
I had an additional thought. If you wear through the rubber coating you could literally replace it with shrink wrap.
As far as the arrow staying on the shelf. The pro series rest come with a foam arrow holder but I didn't particularly care for it. I have a little plastic one made by nap that holds it snug (upside down even) and dosn't make any contact with the arrow when I shoot. I'm also shooting an offest fletching and have had no problems yet. The shop in Wells I had mentioned in an earlier post carries them although I couldn't find one on any of the major online archery stores. |
RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
I agree with the above. The TRDZ is a fantastic rest. I think you'll be pleased with the quality, adjustibility, and quietness.

RE: Is a drop zone noisy??
I love my DZ and as far as noise, if you hear it something is wrong. Mine started making a noise when the arm dropped during the shot so I took it apart and found one of the o rings on the launcher arm broken. I called up TR and they sent me new ones right away and two plastic slides at no charge. Can't beat the service from both ends. Great rest and great company to back it up!!! You'll love it!!!
