How do I take a 125kb picture and reduce it to below 30kb for posting?

I use Photofinish, but most photo touch-up programs will "resize" a picture. Depends upon the particular program the steps, but look for "resize" sometimes you have to click on "transform" to find the "resize" option. Then always be sure the option of "preserve ratio" is checked. this keeps the height to the right proportion to the width.

Reduce it some, guess, then save as a different name as your original!

Close the file, then navigat to the location where you saved it, right click on it and click "properties" the pop-up that appears will show you the size of the picture. then you can reduce it some more or whatever.

Hopes this helps, if not let me know we will try something else!

If you have Windows XP, they have a neat little power toy that you can download from their site for picture reduction. All you do is right click on the photo(s) you want to reduce, then specify your desired resolution. It's very fast and effective:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/p.../powertoys.asp

Find the "Image Resizer" file on the right hand side and install.

You can also crop the picture after scanning, that seemed to help me.
