No clue what is going on now. I resigned from being a mod about a year ago. The mod talk forum is now closed to me since I gave back the secret decoder ring. I suggest you Pm CalHunter if you have any mod questions. He is the real deal and knows more about the site than anyone I have known since I first signed on so many years ago. Best of luck.

Isn't that the guy they're saying isn't around anymore? Be kinda hard for him to answer a PM if he's not around. I'm also not sure I'd trust what a mod had to say after flags posted his response from that other mod. Just sayin...

It would appear that Ibobbie has no clue what is going on here with spammers. What a shame for this site to go south because the owners are more concerned with income than content. The hard thing to comprehend is that the owners will be the losers when the real hunters and fishermen stop posting and I suspect many of us are on the cusp.

They obviously don't have any tools that examine signature lines.

You may be confusing mods and admin.

Mods are just people like you. We're just regular members who agree to volunteer our time to help keep the site running well. We login whenever we can, no set schedule.

I can promise you that mods are frustrated with the spam issue as well. We're the ones who have to spend hours sometimes dealing with it.

The powers that be tell us that there isn't a spam issue here. Interpret that however you like.

If you need to reach a mod you can always pm one of us .I will get back to you if you message me. With three young kids at home and lots of hours at work I'm not able to be as active as I used to be or want to be .

But I do answer pm s.

Welcome to our newest member, classicpdf

I just looked at it another way........looks like they are all talking with one another which isn't good. I have never seen something like this but looks like something is being organized.

To the best of my knowledge, MODS have no access to the private messages (Since they are private)....

So we'll just have to wait and see what they're planning.

CI, you've dealt with all this before. I know that you, as well as myself and other mods, have spent countless hours going through lists like this and deleting obvious spammer profiles. I suppose I could do that. But it's time consuming and I honestly don't have the time right now.

I've also realized, as I believe you have realized, that I really cannot put a dent in it myself. The owners of the site don't view it as an issue. I could spend hours deleting everyday, and they just continue to sign up. I try to catch the spam posts on the site, as well as spam posts reported by members.

Wish there was more that I could do, but I haven't found it as of yet.

But like I said, it depends on your definitions for the words you used.
When someone posts spam, we delete them. If a member has a concrete reason to believe another member is a spammer, please report them and we'll look at them, and if they are a spammer, we'll ban them.

I'm on here every day. mondy-friday. Here is what I know (it is very obvious) -- there's virtually no spam on HNI. When a spam thread appears, it gets reported (usually by multiple people) and deleted, and the spammer gets banned. If you see a spam thread, please report it using the report post button. Thank you!
