Pic problems

I'm TRYING to post a picture for avatar/profile and when I go to upload from my computer-it says "too large". How in the world can I do this or adjust size of pic? I know NOTHING about posting pics or stuff like that.

You would also need a software program on your computer or host your pictures at www.photobucket.com and shrink them there for avatar size. Also, check out the How-To's for photos at the top of the page.
