turkey
i'm really hoping to get a turkey this spring and if i do i'm going to mount it, either a breast or strutting. but i was wondering how hard it really is? this will be my first taxidermy project besides some fan mounts and european mounts.

RE: turkey
I believe you better tackle some smaller bird projects before you tackle a turkey. If you have never clened/fleshed a turkey skin then your in for a treat. If done with knife/scissors your in for a long day. If done with a wire wheel, the only way to flesh a bird, then your in for the treat of your life. Not to mention, you'll probably never think taxidermy again.
My suggestion would be to start with maybe a pheasant or two then maybe a duck which can have quite a bit more fat. Then maybe jump to a goose which will have a lot more fat. Once your broke in, then jump to your turkey. |
