fox and coon

Ive got 2 fox hides and 1 coon hide in the freezer. The fox hides are tanned and the coon hide needs fleshed and tanned yet, how long do you guys think they will last in the freezer? Theve been in there since early March.

No need to worry about the ones already tanned. They'll be fine. As long as the raw skin is wrapped well in plastic, it'll last for a long time, possibly years. The worst thing that usually happens is freezer burn, but that can usually be fixed.

if the ears are freezer burned it makes it a tremendous pain on the taxidermist some can replace them others will not most will tell you to get another coon

my suggestion is to get a hide tanned asap

it costs very little and will last for a very long time

when properly tanned they will outlast you and possibly your kids

the freezer is a good place to store hides but i would suggest less than 3 months and do your best to stop the air transfer on a hide(plastic wrap, towel, trash bag, vac pack, etc) the more you do to prevent freezer burn the better

Get them done ASAP. That's all you can do.
