I bet that sucker was heavy and hard to work with, even though it was just a head. Or should I say, Thank God it was just a head! :D

How much does an elephant head mount cost? curious...

Nice work!

You are right, thank god it was just a head mount. Not looking foward to anymore, although the guy we did this one for is going back to Africa next year to get another, this one was his wifes.
I am not sure what my boss charged him totally for the mount, I work in the tanning part of the shop and only help occasionally with the taxidermy part. I do know for just the tanning of the cape, four feet and the tail was $4000.

Talked to my boss, said we mounted it for $12,500. said he priced it kind of low, was alot of work involved. This elephant was the guys wifes elephant, he is going back next year and wants his done lifesize. Not looking foward to that! We have a giraffe that we will be mounting soon, will post some pictures of that also.

Life-size elephant mount? Holy crap! That man must own a mansion....or a gymnasium.

Great job on the mount. Looks fantastic

How and in what shape are they able to ship an elephant head hide from Africa to Idaho? Seems like you surely couldn't freeze it and just salting a hide that thick wouldn't work. How thin do you flesh the hide for mounting?
