Deer ear positioning....

I,m having my buck mount done using the McKenzie 6400 series heads up and offset to the right mount .
I liked the pic in the McKenzie catolog of the eares back .
After looking at a few others on line I kinda like one ear back and the other in the folded and out position , as if hes listening for something .
Can you post your mounts with ear position please , Thanks

I prefer back when doing a head up position like the 64U.

Ear Positioning

Sometimes I go to a friends farm, he raises deer, and I study them, to get great live reference, watch their movements, ears, eyes, etc. Deer move their ears so many different directions. forward, back, one pointed down, one close to rack. I'd go with what you like, its always good to ask others for an opinion.:groupwave: I like your idea of the ear positioning, something different.:cool2: You do see alot of that positioning in the head down poses, not so much the head up. But I've personally seen live deer head up, with the ear positioning you are talking about. You can check out my website, to get more idea's...http://www.wrightwaytaxidermy.com

Just watch deer!

The only time I really see deer peal their ears straight back is when they take off, or are ducking down to move through stuff - so i always try to have some sort of directional to them. In reality though - you're never wrong. As long as the base-butts are in the right position to the skull, you can litterally just about point the ears in any direction and not be "wrong" as long as its physically possible and probable.

Here is the one my taxi is doing for me right now. He started off with the right side a little further back, and I moved it forward jsut a touch so that it would be "listening where it was looking" - My taxi is awesome though, and I barely touched them...

I took this picture when I went in to position the ears on Christmas eve. I should be picking it up within the next week.
