stripping velvet for restore
 

I need to pick some brains here. Recently my two sons found a couple of EHD victoms still in half velvet. The velvet needs to come off and im going to do euro's for both of them (i already know how to do that part) The big buck has alot chewed off the points that im going to get repaired by my taxi. I got most of the velvet off the big one, but it is still kind of paper feeling and dull, whats the best way to get it all off and maby get it a little more polished like a fresh killed buck?? The little buck has the velvet very tight in places (soak it for awhile maby???) to soften, help is appreciated.

Soak in water for about a week. It'll stink, but it'll come off. Hit any stubborn areas with a water hose.

looks like i need to invest in a large plastic tub then, thanks. anybody got any ideas how to polish them up a bit??

Instead of a tub, try soaking them with a hose and then wrapping a garbage bag around them. It should keep them moist. Wait until they're stripped before deciding how to polish them. They may not need it, but steel wool usually works if they do.

Hey Danno, take em to the high pressure car wash and blast em. Just be sur to hold on tight or tie em up good. Then polish em up with scotchbrite. That should do ya.

Thanks John boy :DI have some scotch bright to, i will try both. First i have to wait till it warms up a bit, everything is still frozen from the ice storm around here :D
