If you are looking in the North Woods.... Vermillion Community college (Ely,MN) has a very good taxi program. I am in some of the classes and I have a few friends in the major as well.

There is a guy here that is the Number 1 taxidermist in the world for Turkeys and has won many otherawards for his elk and whitetail deer..

His name is Marc Jordan and he mounted about 15 or so animals for my family members and guys at camp. All were pleased.

He started his own school - at his shop and teaches a class a couple of times a year.

To become a taxidermist in Pennsylvania - you have to take a test and do a certain amount of work and it has to be approved by the PGC - Pennsylvania Game Commission.

If you are sinceer about wanting to become a taxidermist - you would give him a call.

I have heard of them and talked to Steve Faeschner (the owner/ instructor) the other day. I have to call him again. He is a great guy. As far as the school, IDK I learned from another.

It might sound nostalgic to go out west to go to a taxidermy school, but I would care more about the education that I recieved and the amount of money that it cost to attend then where it was located.

After all you are going to be there to learn, not to sight see.

You can stay in Punxsutawney for 6 weeks for what it costs to stay in Montana for 2 weeks.

I would go and look at the school - before I plunked down my hard earned cash on something sight unseen.

My brother lives 35minutes away from the school so i could have a place to stay plus visit with my family and see scenery maybe even scout for a fall elk hunt with my brother been hunting elk in Colorado for as long as i can remember might give Montana a try in the future.

If you are willing to go to Wisconsin you should really go to American Institute of Taxidermy. I went there and was very pleased. I enjoyed my classes very much. If you are interested the website for the school is www.americantaxidermy.com.

The work I've seen from the students of Second Nature is really good. I can only assume from the quality of the student work, that it is a good school. Here are 24 pages of student pictures. Decide for yourself...http://www.taxidermy.net/forum/index...ic,2141.0.html
