Antelope Horn Polishing
Hi there.
I had 2 antelope bucks mounted last year and the horns are starting to look faded and dry. I've seen other mounts where the horns are shiny and look great. Any suggestions how to polish these things give them a shine ? Also, can you do the same for elk ? I've seen an elk mount that looked like it had some type of poly coating. It was real nice. |
RE: Antelope Horn Polishing
I have been told, by a taxidermist, to rub the horns about once or twice a year with a rag with some "Liquid Gold" on the rag. This seems to work for my son's pronghorn mount. He also said to dust the fur about twice per year, maybe rubbing the fur gently in the direction of the hair with a damp cloth. Just remember to take it easy and don't man-handle your mount. Be careful you don't knock it off the wall!
