Tanning or Dry Preserve, +'s -'s

What is evrybodys experiences with tanned hide mounts versus Dry Preserved hide mounts? I have done both so far with little difference in the final product.

For small animals I like the dry preserve, for the reason not having to skive down the face area so much compared to tanning with makes it a little thicker. I just like the way they come out better. The next mountain lion I kill I"m gonna dry preserve it. Restreching a Mt. Lion after tanning is intense. To me it seems like certain area's of the hide just don't stretch back to what they were. The last two I mounted was quite the ordeal as far as lifesize mounts go.

Big game shoulder mounts I prefer tanning but the outcome of the two wasn't much difference in appearance.

I am sure there will be a difference in appearance 10 years from now though!;)

Tanning is a more stable method but DP in the right hands will create some great mounts. I would never DP anything larger than a red fox, but I tan everything.
