wanting to be a taxidermist

I am wanting to become a taxidermist and was wondering where I could go to learn this great art. If anyone knows of any schools or colleges that offer this stuff or anybody that teaches this stuff any info would help. I live in IN but would be willing to go some where to learn. Thank you

Join your state association. They will get you in touch with someone in your are that could at least let you watch and see if you really want to. Check out www.taxidermy.net the internets leadingsite on taxidermy. There is a LINKS at the top of the page that can link you to some very good schools. There are 3 community colleges near me that teach it, one I learned at. Hope it helps

My uncle taught taxidermy for many years, his best teaching method was practice, practice and more practice. Some will disagree with me, but a school will aquaint you with the art of taxidermy, but practice can turn you into a taxidermist!

If you are willing to go to Wisconsin you should really go to American Institute of Taxidermy. I went there and was very pleased. I enjoyed my classes very much. If you are interested the website for the school is www.americantaxidermy.com.
