Doing my turkey
Getting ready to do my first gobbler... What pose do you think is the easiest to start with... I'm thinking flying and standing...

RE: Doing my turkey
Standing is easier.

RE: Doing my turkey
Alex definetely has the experience here but I think flying is easier. Standing, IMHO, is harder that strutting because everything has to be right to look good. Side pockets, etc. Strutting you can get away with a little, flying you can get away with even more. The biggest problem I have seen is too big of a form and not pulling the neck skin up enough. Good Luck

RE: Doing my turkey
there are some fine videos on the market and if your serious about taxidermy, Breakthrough magazine usually has an article on mounting them. I can look up past issues for you if you need it.

RE: Doing my turkey
I had a subscription to taxidermy today... And it had a lot of articles on mouting turkeys... I also bought the break through bird taxidermy manual plus a few video's from cally morris and ed thompson... I'm hopeing I did my home work:D
I guess the mount will tell the story... I just got all my stuff in the mail the other day. so I'll be doing it in the next week or so... |
