Type of Gloss?

For finishing Big Game Mounts, what type of gloss do you use for the nose. I've been using modge podge and some Spray gloss from the hardware store. It gives it a nice look, but not quite like I want. What type of gloss do you feel gives you the best results?

I have been using Wet look gloss from Wasco ( think that is what it is called ). I am also going to try a little experimenting this year with different types of gloss for the nose and different ways of painting.

I use Clear lacquer from Sherwin williams, it requires a catalyst and you can use it for fish.

Sounds like we all have something a bit different in mind! I use Modpodge first, then paint ( I like Polytranspar lacquer) and then clear gloss, but I use Lifetone Gloss Topcoat for my gloss still. Sometimes I hit it a second time with Modpodge if I need a more textured look.

RE: Type of Gloss?

I have another question. When applying the modge podge, I've been using a really small paint brush. It seems to work fine, but takes a long time. I've tried different type of syringe type applicators, but the seems to be too inconsistent with the amount I can squeeze out... almost as if the applicator isn't smooth enough when squeezing it out. What works best for you, when applying the texture from modge podge. Thanks again.
