TeeJay, its common practice to always get your shipping instructions from the taxidermist youre shipping to. I can help you, though. The very best way, in cold weather, is to first freeze the birds. Then wrap them up in a plastic bag. Get yourself a cheap styrofoam cooler if you are cheap, or a smallish plastic cooler if money is no object. Put the bagged birds in the cooler, and tightly pack some crunched up newspaper or better yet, some fibreglass insulation in the cooler. Two reasons...the obvious, insulation, but secondly, to keep the birds from moving around in there during shipping, which smashes the tail feathers and could damage the birds. Put the cooler into a regular box, add peanuts or more paper between the cooler and the inside walls of the box, again for packing. In cold weather 2nd Day Air is ok. Dont skimp on the money shipping. Send on a Monday.

Im not saying theres no other way, but most of the specimens I receive this way make it here just fine. Again, check with your taxidermist first. Good luck!
