Dry preserve or instant preserve is a powder chemical preparation that is rubbed on the inside of the fleshed skin before mounting it, it is a quick way and cheaper way of mounting a deer or other large animals.
If done properly it can last many years.
The Best to me is the Van Dykes instant preserve, which in small animals such as squirrels can tan the skin almost.
