What is the best thing to use to preserve a snake skin, I just want to hang it on the wall.

The way i have done them is skin your snake then stretch and staple it to a board or plywood and salt it down heavily, let it dry out for a week or so. then take it of the board and start to scrape the dried up meat and fat off with a knife being carefull. I go on to apply hand lotion to the skin and work it over a board, if you keep applying lotion and working it over a board daily it will come out soft, or you can skip that and just place it on the wall.

the easiest way is to skin it,lay it flat and scrap with a BIG spoon, scrap with the scales, (from nose to tail).when you get all the (slim) and tissue off , staple to a board and salt it down. leave for a couple of weeks. brush off the extra salt.trim and put it on a board and hang it on wall.
it will look a lot better after you get it on you good board, brush with neets foot oil, several times.Finished

I just got doing one that I caught last year, skinned it out, carefully atached it to a board using small push tack's, scraped and cleaned it with a old spoon, then each day I went out with a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of Gylciren and water and sparyed a slight mist on it.... after a week let it dry out for a couple days and take it down, wipe it down with paper towels to get any excess fluid off of it, lay it somewhere wear it can dry completely (couple days) then just trim the rough edges off of it with a razor knife, and worjk it with your hands till it is plyable and easy to work.... then if you want you can get some black thin felt and apply it to the back of the skin and trim it to match to the snake skin, then you have a nice table peice, thrown a couple of sheds in the mix and your all done....

I have three more in the freezer that I just killed a couple weeks ago, I'm giving them to a friend of mine for backing on his Trad bow....

You don't need to staple it to preserve it, Scrape all the meat and fat off use a spoon if you don't have a professional fish and snake scraper, salted and bundle it up in burlap,or canvas for 2 days, prepare a solution of aluminum sulfate, 1 Lbs Alumininum S. 2 pounds of salt, soak in this pickle for 3 or 4 days , rinse slightly and apply "WASCO"S SNAKE TAN OIL" presto! your snake is tanned and will remain soft.
